As part of our 8th grade unit on Holocaust literature unit Mrs. Tarquine's brother Andrew Jampoler, who was a child Holocaust survivor, came to TMS this week. He spoke to our 8th graders about his experiences surviving the Holocaust as a child and his life as a war refugee in America.

National School Counseling Week focuses public attention to the unique contribution of school counselors within the school system. This week highlights the impact counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan a successful career.

This fundsraiser helps families during the holiday season. Sarah (manager) and her staff at the Eustis Sonic prepared slushees for our kids who donated to the fundraiser.

🏃 👟 Tavares Middle School Track and Field had 12 kids run the Celebration Half-Marathon this weekend. The race is 13.1 miles. Our kids swept all 6 of the age group awards. Five kids finished under 1 hr, 25 min, 7 finished under 1 hr, 37min and everyone finished under 2hrs 5 min
Student Spotlight!
Kyla Perkins was selected to participate in All-District Band on Clarinet! This band was comprised of students from Lake, Sumter, and Marion County. All-District Band rehearsed Thursday night, all day Friday, Saturday morning, and then ended the event with a fantastic concert Saturday afternoon after the hard work that went into such a short amount of time! Way to represent TMS! ❤️🤍💙

Thanks to Gina and Cindy with Style Magazine who came to Mrs. McLeod’s DIT classes this week! They spoke with students about creating and producing a podcast. Students got the opportunity to create a mock podcast with their feedback. Students loved coming up with some creative topics!

Celebrate Literacy Week is designed to raise awareness about the importance of reading and to inspire our students and families to make reading part of their daily routines.
This week, our Tavares Middle National Junior Honor Society members came together to spread some love and brighten the day of children receiving care at our local Children’s Hospital. They crafted beautiful bracelets as a small gesture to bring joy and hope.
