During School Bus Safety Week, we’re celebrating the drivers who safely get our students to and from school every day. Thank you for your care, patience, and dedication!

🚌 Did you know?

*The National Safety Council notes that school buses are designed for safety, with flashing lights, large mirrors, stop-sign arms, bright yellow paint, and closely spaced, energy-absorbing seats.

*Getting on and off is the most dangerous part of the bus ride. Wait until the bus stops completely and stay out of the 10-foot danger zone around it.

*In all 50 states, it’s illegal to pass a school bus with its stop arm out and red lights flashing.

Tavares Middle School students and staff, wear orange on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, to show your support for bullying prevention. Let’s stand together, spread kindness, and help everyone feel they belong!

During National Bullying Prevention Month, Lake County Schools and the MIKE Endowment partnered to create Fields of Kindness. Each participating campus plants 200 flags: orange and blue for bullying prevention, teal and purple for suicide awareness, and green for mental health awareness.

Students make each display their own by writing messages of encouragement, support, and tribute on the backs of the flags. At Tavares Middle School, students are filling the field all week!

Get ready for a week of fun, friendship, and heroic spirit! Join us for Red Ribbon Week dress-up days during the week of October 26:

Monday — Rhyme Without a Reason: Match with your friends in rhyming outfits.

Tuesday — Zoom Meeting: Dress for a Zoom meeting: comfy on the bottom and formal on top. Pajama pants are okay!

Wednesday — Dynamic Duos: Team up with a friend and dress as an iconic duo—famous characters, foods, celebrities, or anything that belongs together.

Thursday — Country vs. Country Club: Yeehaw or preppy? Choose your side and dress to represent.

Friday — Heroes: Dress like a superhero or an everyday hero.

Important: No paint is allowed on any of the dress-up days.

Every day is a chance to be a HERO—in school, in life, and in everything we do! 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

⚙️🌟 Congrats to our Patriot Robotics teams who participated in the 9th annual Education Foundation scrimmage. Our teams had a great day winning the following: 4009 A - judges award with $200 vex equipment 4009 B - build award 4009 D - certificate of recognition including one team registration 4009 E - sportsmanship award and a second place finish in the finals
